Sound familiar?

The home works. It just doesn't work for you any more.

Most Queensland homeowners don't call a builder because something broke. They call because the house stopped fitting the life happening inside it.

A kitchen you avoid cooking in

Bench space that never worked, cupboards you can't reach and a layout that fights you every night. The room the family actually lives in, doing the least for you.

A bathroom that dates the whole house

Cracked grout, tired tiling, and humidity doing slow damage behind the wall. In Queensland's climate a tired bathroom rarely stays cosmetic for long.

You've outgrown the floorplan

Another child, family moving in, or working from the kitchen table. Moving costs more than building — an extension keeps the street, school and neighbours you chose.

Quotes that turned into a moving target

The number you agreed to and the number you paid weren't the same. Variations appeared as invoices, not as conversations. It's the single most common reason people hesitate.

A builder who went quiet

Work started, then the trades stopped arriving and nobody returned the call. You should never have to chase a subcontractor to find out what's happening in your own home.

Told your job was "too small"

Plenty of builders quietly decline anything under a certain figure. We don't. A single room and a full rebuild get the same process and the same standard of finish.

Why REI Homes

Twenty years of knowing what goes wrong — and building so it doesn't.

You'll know the real number early

We scope properly before quoting, so the figure you see is the figure you pay. That takes longer up front and saves the argument later.

Your job isn't too small

From a $25,000 bathroom to a $250,000 rebuild, same process, same site standards, same project manager. Most builders won't say that.

Built for the Queensland climate

Queensland humidity, storm season and heat will find any shortcut a builder takes. We specify waterproofing, ventilation and materials for the climate your home actually sits in, not a generic national spec.

You can live in it while we work

Staged where possible, sealed off, cleaned daily. We plan around your household rather than asking it to move out.

Licensed, insured, accountable

QBCC licence 15571231, fully insured, with written contracts on every job — as Queensland law requires for work over $3,300. Check it on the QBCC register before you sign with anyone.

The trades are ours, not a lottery

Long-standing relationships with the same tradespeople. Consistent finish, consistent conduct in your home.

Straight answers

What renovations actually cost in Queensland

Most builders won't put numbers on a website. We'd rather you knew roughly where you sit before you pick up the phone — it saves everyone's time.

What Our Clients Say

⚠ Connecting once the Google Business Profile is verified.

The carousel, aggregate rating and star markup are built. They stay dimmed and hidden from screen readers until the REI Homes Google Business Profile is live and carrying reviews — then this section switches on without touching the rest of the page.

Nothing here is invented. No placeholder names, ratings or quotes have been written. A fabricated review is worse than none, and on a paid-ads page it is also a compliance risk.

Common questions

Renovating in Queensland

As a guide for 2026: bathrooms typically run $25,000–$50,000, kitchens $40,000–$100,000, multi-room work $40,000–$160,000, and a full-home renovation or extension from around $150,000. Where you land inside those ranges comes down to finishes, site access, and what we find behind the walls. We give you a fixed written price after the free consultation, not a range.

A single bathroom is usually 1–2 weeks. A kitchen is 2–4 weeks depending on cabinetry lead times. A full home runs 6–12 weeks depending on the size of the renovation. Extensions vary most, because council approval sits on the front of the timeline. You get a written completion date before we start, and you hear from us before that date if anything threatens it.

Cosmetic work — new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, paint — generally doesn't. Anything structural, any change to the building's footprint, most decks and carports, and work affecting a character or heritage-listed property generally does. We tell you which category your project falls into at the consultation, and we handle the approval process where one is needed.

Yes. In Queensland, building work valued over $3,300 must be carried out by a QBCC-licensed contractor, and work over that threshold generally requires a written contract. Always ask for the licence number and check it on the QBCC register before you sign anything — with us or anyone else. Ours is 15571231.

Usually, yes. Single-room work almost always. For kitchens we can stage the work so you keep a functioning temporary setup, and for bathrooms we plan around access to another. We seal work areas, manage dust, and clean the site daily. For a full-home renovation, moving out is often faster and cheaper overall — we'll tell you honestly which applies.

We come to your property, look at the space, discuss what you want to achieve, and talk through what's realistic structurally and financially. You'll get straight advice on approvals, likely timeline and cost range. There's no charge, no obligation, and nothing to sign on the day.

It doesn't, unless you ask for something different or we uncover something genuinely hidden — old wiring, termite damage, failed waterproofing. In that case we stop, show you what we've found, cost the options, and you decide before any further work happens. Variations are conversations, not invoices.

Yes. A single bathroom, one room, or a set of modifications for accessibility are all normal work for us. You get the same project manager, the same written scope and the same guarantee as a full rebuild. If a job genuinely isn't right for us, we'll say so and point you somewhere sensible.

Your renovation starts with one honest conversation.

Tell us what you're thinking. We'll tell you what it takes, what it costs, and whether now is the right time to do it.
